Individual Therapy

Be who you are, and go the whole way.
-Lao Tzu

I am inspired by transformation, by the possibilities, freedom, and implications of deep personal change. I’ve seen it in myself and my clients. Moving from stagnation to aliveness, from isolation to love. I’m honored to work with you on your path of healing, self-discovery, growth, and transformation.

In my work we build bridges to support the process of transformation. For some people that may come through healing past wounds, a life-transition, overcoming grief, coming out of depression or perhaps breaking an old habit or relationship pattern. Let’s start building your bridge and move towards the more authentic and soulful version of yourself.

  1. Healing happens in the here and now

  2. Healing is relational

  3. Healing occurs through the body

As we work together, you will see how each of these aspects shows up. In session, you will find me to be patient and caring. Providing safety is a top priority. And you may also find me at times challenging your edges in order to support your growth. I trust that you will come out of this on the other side of that bridge with a renewed sense of life.

I work with adults, teens, couples, and families in English and Spanish. I specialize in life transitions and healing from trauma, depression, and anxiety. My method is informed by Buddhist psychology, Gestalt, existentialism, and somatic awareness.

MY ORIENTATION

GESTALT THERAPY

Reality is unfolding right this second and yet how easy we can get lost dwelling in the past or making plans for the future.

I work with Gestalt Therapy, (developed in the 70’s by Fritz Perls right here in California), which integrates awareness of the present moment as the main tool towards growth and transformation. By grounding ourselves Here and Now we can find our center in life and learn how to move through reality with freedom and love.

We are relational beings. From birth onwards we are imprinted, for good and for bad, with a way of seeking our most basic needs of safety, nutrition and love. This process can be difficult and leave wounds in our hearts that show up in our interpersonal relationships.

In our therapy we will build an authentic relationship together. I am here to support you in this process, healing past wounds and exploring the depth of your most authentic Self. That is the one that can hold deep loving relationships with yourself and others.

In this work we will integrate attachment-based psychotherapy with parts work inspired by Gestalt and Internal Family Systems.

Trauma INFORMED

Accidents, violence, sickness, disasters, abuse and neglect can all be sources of deep wounds and trauma in our lives. Some people develop PTSD, yet for all of us it will taint our worldview and can lead us into depression, anxiety and a life of conscious or unconscious suffering. We may lose track of who we are and why we are here.

I base my practice on cutting edge research in psychotherapy (Van der Kolk, 2014) and neuroscience (Porges, 2011) which are bringing to the world novel and highly effective ways of healing trauma, including somatic-awareness, EMDR, psychedelic therapy and mindfulness.
